What Are Extra Meets?
Each of the three teams - Boys, Girls, Coed - swims between 6 and 8 dual meets against other Y teams. These are required meets, and every swimmer is expected to attend unless they have a good reason not to. (If you cannot attend a dual meet, you must notify your coach so he/she can create the meet sheets accordingly. Failure to notify your coach will cause you to be suspended from swimming in the next meet.)
In addition to these dual meets, we swim a number of "extra meets" every season. The biggest of these are Fall Festival, Holiday Classic, and Winterfest. Regardless of size, however, we encourage you to swim in as many extra meets as you can.
In addition to the above meets, swimmers should also swim at the YMCA championship meets. These meets are held in February and March, after the dual meet season has ended. There are four levels of competition, and every swimmer will qualify for at least one of these meets. They are 8/under championships, Bronze championships, Silver championships, and the NJ State YMCA (Gold) championships.
Finally, there are the YWCA Junior/Senior National Championships (Nationals), which are held in early April in Charlotte, NC. Any swimmer that qualifies for at least one event at this meet is eligible to attend, and may then swim up to 6 events there. Nationals isn't really considered an "extra meet" as far as the information below is concerned, however. As you can imagine, a 4 day trip to North Carolina is a bit more involved that driving to a nearby pool, swimming, and going home. Therefore, we have a separate web page devoted just to Nationals.
Entering Extra Meets
To enter an extra meet, fill out this form on the web site. Continue until you click the Submit Form button, and the entry will be emailed to Chris Hochman and Priscilla Rose, with a cc: coming back to you as confirmation. Payment for events will come out of your Extra Meet account, which is established at the beginning of the season. We will then enter you into that meet.
Information On Extra Meets
